Astrology Widgets For Desktop or Website

I have never been a huge Astrology follower, but after a few requests for an Astrology Widget, I have decided to troll the Internet and find something my viewers may find interesting.

The interesting thing is there are many Astrology Widgets available, but very few are creative. Maybe an opportunity for developers?

My first stop is almost always widgetbox.com. You can reply on those guys to always have something related onhand. Not always the best, but almost always something you can use. Here is a list if Widget Boxes Astrology widgets.

I did find a few which are quite easy to implement, but one in particular which is a bit scarey if you’re planning for the long term placement on your page. I say a bit scarey, because the fine print on this site says "Terms: Only one Moon Phase Plugin per webpage. Widget reserves the right to withdraw this free service at any time without notification."

They also only allow one Widget per page.

That sucks! I’ve never liked rules, and this one really stinks, but it is a pretty cool idea.

Oh well, it’s free for now and they will not allow me to display but one astrology Widget per page and I have chosen the moon phase Widget.

I guess I liked the variety of what they offer more than anything:

Planetary Hour Calculates the planetary hour for 4000 locations worldwide. Displays in text or image format.
Moon Position Calculates the position of the moon and displays it in either text or image format.
Moon Phase Calculates the phase of the moon and displays the moon’s image with the named phase underneath.
Instant Biorhythms Calculates and returns an image of the users biorhythms cycle upon DOB submission. Requires the user to have the Flash 6 browser plugin.

To see all of their "offer may expire soon" Widgets, you may view at widgetsworld.co.uk

Ebay Shopping Widget

I always love the guys at WidgetBox.

No…NOT LIKE YOU"RE THINKIN’…I want to have sex with them!!!

Just kiddin!

But if you are an eBay maniac, you may just find this useful enough to be tempted.

I have not used this service, but would love to have some feedback from anyone who has because I love the idea designed by the masters at WidgetBox.com

=======================

Here’s another eBay Widget from Widgipedia which operates very similar. They say "Activate your Listing Feeds in eBay… and submit it to us and we do the rest!".

I am curious to know what "the rest" is.

On further inspection, I see WidgetBox beat them to the punch by about a month.

Ooooo. The battle is on!!!

Which is best?

And…I did not forget you MAC users. Check out Easy Ebay.

As an added bonus and in the same arena as the ebay widget is this creative gadget made for real estate professionals. You can embed your listings into the gadget for placement on a variety of websites like Facebook, Wordpress, MySpace, Friendster, etc. Useful anyone?

Technorati Widgets

Looking for a Technorati widget?

You’re in luck! They have page dedicated to this very thing.

Check this out! Want to know how often people are talking about you on the web? This is cool and could be a little freaky. Kinda like the blogarazzi. Sister to Papparazzi and stalker of the blogosphere. Ok, not funny, but an awesome widget to waste your time on.

I set this one up to see how often the word “Widget” shows up in the blogosphere.

Posts that contain Widget per day for the last 30 days.
Technorati Chart
Get your own chart!

The next one displays the top blog tags for my website. I assume you’ll be seeing the word “widget” quite often. mmm hmmm!

NEXT…This one allows you to put your Technorati favorites into your blog roll. Quite nifty if your best list is at Technorati.

Find a list of Technorati WordPress plugins to integrate Technorati with your blog.

If you are a Technorati desktop widget freak, you’ll find those here.

By the way. At the time of this writing, the top video on Technorati was added just three days ago and has already had over 3.5 million hits. I was rolling on the floor until I remembered I was from South Carolina too. If you’re looking for another good laugh, check out this answer from a question posed to Miss Teen South Carolina. If you watch the video with subtitles, its even funnier.

Firefox Widgets & Add-Ons

August 17th, 2007 admin Posted in Marketing Widgets, Widget News, Advertising Widgets, Desktop Widgets No Comments »

I found this site from the Netherlands today while seeking Widget resources, and thought you might find it of interest. If you are a beginning developer like myself, do you also find this widget resource helpful?

On another note, I hope you are already using the power of the Firefox browser. If you are a “widget head”, you’ll go bonkers over the ad-ons available to personalize your Firefox browser. I have spent the last few hours downloading some of the latest additions and had to force myself to step away. For newbie surfers, don’t worry, these puppies are extremely to install. Once installed, be sure to check out the Firefox RSS add on from the RRS link if you have ever wanted the short cuts to understanding RSS. In fact, they have all kinds of RSS stuff you’ll want to check out. What a freakin’ time saver.

Lastly, if you have a blog and want to optimize your site for all the free traffic from search engines, this is a must! Not a Widget, but very cool nonetheless. This baby makes the bloggers life so much easier.

Here’s what SEO Title Tag 2.0 version does courtesy of their website:

  • Allows you to override a page’s or a post’s title tag with a custom one.
  • New for v2.0 A Title Tag input box in the Edit Post and Write Post forms. (Previously in version 1.0 you had to use the Custom Field box.)
  • New for v2.0 Mass editing of title tags for all posts, static pages, category pages, tag pages, tag conjunction pages, archive by month pages, — indeed, any URL — all in one go.
  • Define a custom title tag for your home page (or, more accurately, your Posts page, if you have chosen a static Front Page set under Options -> Reading), through the Options -> SEO Title Tag page in the WordPress admin.
  • New for v2.0 Define the title tag of 404 error pages, also through Options -> SEO Title Tag.
  • New for v2.0 Handles internal search result pages too.
  • For users of the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin (which should be everybody!), incorporates the tag name into the title tag on “tag pages” (sorry for the confusing use of “tag” in two contexts here — as in tagging and HTML title tags).
  • New for v2.0 (When used with Ultimate Tag Warrior) Customize the title tags on tag pages, and on tag conjunction pages too (e.g. http://www.netconcepts.com/tag/seo+articles). The latter is done through Manage -> Title Tags -> URLs; see this screenshot for an example.
  • New for v2.0 Title tags of category pages can optionally be set to the category description. If you use a Meta Tag plugin like Add Meta Tags, then you should not use this feature and instead let the Meta Tag plugin use the category description for the meta description on category pages.
  • If you choose to keep the blog name in your title tags (not recommended!), the order of the blog name and the title are automatically reversed, giving more keyword prominence to the title instead of the blog name. Note there is also an option to replace your blog name with a shorter blog nickname.

I have so much more I have discovered today, but I must eat! :) I’ll gather my thoughts and post again soon.
